Coliving is a modern form of shared housing managed by specialised companies aiming to provide high-end living spaces at reduced costs. It is primarily targeted at students, young professionals, and digital nomads, and typically includes premium services such as high-speed Wi-Fi, cleaning and/or laundry, coworking areas, and community events.
Each resident has a private bedroom (often with an en-suite bathroom) and shares common areas like the kitchen, living room, and sometimes workspaces or even a gym.
Coliving offers more flexibility than traditional flat-sharing, as contracts are often available on a weekly or monthly basis. Many professionals and entrepreneurs are drawn to the networking and collaboration opportunities these spaces provide.
Coliving is gaining popularity in Spain, particularly in major cities and coastal areas that attract digital nomads. Some of the best-known providers include Urban Campus (Madrid), CoTown (Barcelona, Valencia), The Social Hub (Madrid, Barcelona), Sun & Co. (Costa Brava, Alicante), and Cactus Coliving (Tenerife, La Gomera).
